WF-7710 ethernet usage

I would like to install the chipless firmware on an Epson WF-7710

I normally use the printer through ethernet connection.

Can I hook up the USB to do the firmware, then return to ethernet connection, or do I need to keep the USB connection in place?

Do I need to disconnect ethernet connection to do the firmware update?

For  activation process you have to have USB connection-it is obligatory.

During the activation you need to use a stable internet and USB connection, but afterwards your printer can work as before with any type of connection.
