How do you know when the firmware is updated. I did not get to 100% and did the reboot. How do I know if it took?

At 99% completion, I get the following pop-up message:
The Printer's firmware was not updated.
The firmware update did not complete. Try the following, then click [Retry].

- Ensure that the printer is powered on.
Click [Retry] to perform the update again
Click [next] to continue processing.
There are no error codes.I am using windows 10

Black ink cartridge is empty, but display is at home screen. Would this stop the update?

I have a epson sp-15000. Install got to 99%. Program said update was not installed. I unplugged printer and plugged it in and manually turned on the printer. Then I clicked finish on the program. What do I do now. Do i fill the ink? How do I know if the firmware is updated?????
